There are number of activities available to entertain you in the nearby area. Local kayaking from Glasbury or Hay-on-Wye can end at The Boat Inn at Whitney-on-Wye, just 200 yards from Cilgwyn House. You can also grab a meal at The Boat.
You can enjoy walks in the the local area or you can venture further into the Black Mountains or the Brecon Beacons if you feel like being more adventurous.
If town walking is more to your liking, Hay-on-Wye famous for its annual festival, is only 5 miles away. Antique and book shops are in abundance as are local pubs selling food and local ale.
Hereford, Leominster and Brecon are about 25 minutes away and offer more opportunities for shopping and eating.
